Episode Description

When we hear the word “ghostwriter,” what may come up are images of rappers in the studio having someone else write their lyrics. But have you ever considered that some of your favorite viral pop culture moments – from speeches to text messages — were orchestrated by ghostwriters, many of whom are Black women?

Today, I’m joined by Pauleanna Reid, who is a celebrity ghostwriter that helps high-profile leaders and doers turn their personal stories into powerful brand assets. She is the founder of WritersBlok, a full-service ghostwriting agency, composed of a team of content ninjas responsible for some of the most talked-about pop culture moments, books, and noteworthy speeches. During our conversation we discussed how ghostwriters collaborate with high-profile clients, why we shouldn’t associate hiring a ghostwriter with a lack of intellect or talent, and how ghostwriting can provide an untraditional path for those who want to enter the publishing industry.

*Please note that this episode contains a story involving suicidal thoughts, which may be triggering for some listeners.*

About the Podcast

The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves.

Resources & Announcements

Grab your copy of Sisterhood Heals.

Where to Find Pauleanna

Instagram

Twitter

Website

Mentorship Program

Writer’s Blok

Stay Connected

Is there a topic you'd like covered on the podcast?
