He co-founded the <a href="http://www.dharma.org/">Insight Meditation Society</a> in Barre, Massachusetts, with <a href="http://www.sharonsalzberg.com/">Sharon Salzberg</a> and <a href="http://www.dharma.org/ims/joseph_goldstein.html">Joseph Goldstein</a>, then he went on to start the <a href="http://www.spiritrock.org/">Spirit Rock</a> Medication Center in Woodacre, California.
